His life

Sathya Sai Baba is one of the most revered spiritual teachers. He is known by millions of people all over the world. His devotees come from all faiths and meet regularly to chant, study His teachings and engage in service activities to practise His message of love and peace to unite all humanity. Sathya Sai Baba was born in South India in 1926. Even as a child, His spiritual inclination, contemplative nature and miracles set Him apart from other children of His age. But it was not until 1940, when He declared His avatarhood, that the whole world came to know of this divine phenomenon. He showed His intention to spiritually renew humanity by always exemplifying the principles of truth, right conduct, peace, love and non-violence. Even after leaving the physical body in 2011, His teachings and work continue to be developed and spread worldwide.

His teaching - love all

Sathya Sai Baba teaches that the basic nature of man is divine and that the goal of life is the realisation of this divinity. This is done by leading a moral life, by selfless service to those in need, by devotion and by developing love, respect and compassion for all life. He reminds us that man can realise that he originates from God. Our destiny is to merge with God again. Sathya Sai Baba teaches us that all religions are expressions of the same universal principles. He does not recommend that we become ascetics and withdraw from the world. Instead, the world should be our school and the five human values of truth, right conduct, peace, love and non-violence are our curriculum.

I have come to light the lamp of love in your hearts and to make it shine with more effulgence day by day. I have not come to promote any sect or creed. Nor have I come to gather disciples for any doctrine. I have come to tell you of this universal faith, the path of love.

Believe that all hearts are inspired by the one and only God, that all names in all languages and all forms that man can conceive signify the one and only God. Cultivate the attitude of oneness between people of all faiths, all countries and all continents. This is the message of love that I bring.

Love is God, God is love. Where there is love, God is truly visible. Love more and more people; love them more and more intensely; transform love into service; transform service into worship. That is the highest spiritual practice.

By His personal example, Sathya Sai Baba has inspired millions of devotees around the world to the ideal that service to man is also service to God. His numerous service projects, be it free hospitals, free schools and universities, free drinking water supply, free housing projects or disaster relief programmes, testify to His selfless love and compassion especially for the needy and less privileged. Sathya Sai Baba strongly emphasises selfless service to the needy as the supreme means of promoting one's spiritual growth and development. The organisations founded by Sathya Sai Baba are active worldwide and their members carry out many service activities that benefit their local communities.

You can observe Me and My activities and see how I adhere to righteousness, moral discipline, truth and universal compassion. This is what I want you to learn from Me. My life is My message.

The cultivation of social consciousness is very important. Man cannot live in isolation like a drop of oil in water. He is a product of society. He must live in it, grow with it and work for it. One must participate with others in common tasks and contribute one's strengths and abilities to the community.

Since the early years of My life, I have been committed to providing three basic requirements for our population: free education, free medical care and free access to drinking water. Education is for the head, medical care is for the heart and pure water is for the body. Providing these three things gives one the greatest satisfaction.
