For this Winter Satsang in the year of Sai-lens, the year of silence and of perception through Baba's optics, we should like to offer you a musical programme, to enjoy in silence or to sing along respectively. In keeping with the Basel Christmas tradition, theatre elements won’t be missing.
As a gift to Mother Earth, we would like to plant or finance as many trees as possible for Baba's 100th birthday. There is a project in Switzerland where you can lend a hand. With the «ceiling on desires» programme, we will donate money saved to a Sai reforestation project in Andalusia. We use the association's capital to support the reforestation of the rainforest in the Baram Peace Park in Borneo via the «Bruno Manser Fund».
In southern Spain, erosion threatens to create deserts. Planting trees helps to counteract this. The Fundación Monte Mediterráneo in Andalusia has set itself the goal of sustainably supporting the ecosystem on its land with a reforestation campaign to mark the 100th birthday of Sathya Sai Baba. The aim is to plant 100 trees to prevent erosion. SSIO Switzerland is supporting this project. Swiss devotees can donate money saved by ‘limiting their wishes’. Cost per tree, including all planting and protection work: CHF 70
«Do not waste food, do not waste money, do not waste time, do not waste energy, do not exploit nature. Avoiding waste of these gifts from God is a spiritual practice leading to self-realisation.»
Let's analyse our desires and see how we can reduce them. Instead of spending money for our own pleasure, we should use the money saved by limiting our desires for the relief of the needy, as well as for the protection of our planet.
The aim of the bookshop is to disseminate the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba to as many people as possible. The bookshop has a large selection of books by and about Sai Baba, mainly in German and English, plus many audio and video media. New publications are reviewed regularly. All the operations of the Sathya Sai bookshop are carried out on a voluntary basis. Any resulting profit is used for new publications. The books can be ordered online, or you can visit the bookshop at Laurenzenvorstadt 47 in Aarau in person with prior appointment by telephone.
The Sathya Sai Bulletin publishes contributions from members on the theme of the year, annual festivals, reports on local and national events or other spiritual topics. The Bulletin is published twice a year in May and November. The editorial team is led by Gertraude and Elfinn, who also designs the bulletins. The deadline for contributions is 10 May or 10 November. The Bulletin can be subscribed to as a free mail-out, it is also possible to receive a print version.
Every year there are three or four large meetings for the whole of Switzerland, the Satsangs (literally: contact with the truth). They are open to all members and other interested persons. Apart from a lot of singing together, each Satsang has a main focus.
Spring Satsang: usually a meeting with other religious communities.
Summer Satsang: usually a meeting to deepen the theme of the year.
Autumn Satsang: usually held on the Day of Prayer, with a review of the past year and a look ahead to the themes of the following year.
Winter Satsang: in December, the focus is on the Christian feast of Christmas.
On important holidays related to Sai Baba, the international organisation creates worldwide programmes of several hours with a live stream: Birthday, Christmas, Mahashivaratri, Aradhana Mahotsavam, Easwaramma Day, Avatar Declaration Day, Akhanda Bhajans, Ladies' Day etc. There are also regular 24-hour Akhanda Gayatri chantings for world peace.
